Hey all,

I have a 23 foot ocean boat here in Edmonton.
5500lbs 2" ball flat four plug in.
I want to go fishing in Rupert or kitimat for a few days (4 or so).
July 20-23 or 27 to 30 ish
I have all the gear for 4 to fish.
I bring 1 friend him and I share boat costs fuel etc
You bring 1 friend share truck costs fuel etc.
I don't drink or smoke. We provide our own food.
We camp or sleep on boat (snug fit for 4).
Boat will stay in terrace so not towing it back.
Truck needs to seat 4 .
Any takers, I am not a guide but have fished the coast a lot.
Still called fishing not catching.

Do you figure that a beige mini-van would do the trick?:bad_boys_20:

I considered it, but we wouldn't make a mile.

I towed the boat from thunder bay ontario toedmonton with a chevy astro.
It was windy and we never got over 100kmh. Mostly around 80Kmh. Had to turn the heat on full and run with windows down to prevent overheating.
The hills in BC would likely kill a minivan.

Is this not a fair deal?

Damn thats a long slow drive in an astro LOL...

The deal sounds fair to me, you're likely dealing with a short notice issue.

Sounds like my kind of trip, except i drive a jeep and live in Calgary...

I think it's a very good deal. Be patient, someone will take you up on it.

I think its a fair deal, if I could send the kids to their grandparents and bring my wife I'd be all over it. Unfortunatly with a newborn that isnt an option right now, still kind of playing with the idea of taking you up on this but I need to talk to some people first. Like RF said its short notice, and at a time when many of us have already planned hollidays.

Definitely a fair deal! The no drinking may kill it for some, but I definitely think someone would jump at that chance!
Sounds like a heck of a decent opportunity for someone though!

Using 14 mpg on the way there, should be 260 liters, and 18 mpg on the way back gets 182 liters, about $450 worth of fuel in the truck. Wear and tear for ~2500 km's at 0.15/km is $375, ferry ride I'm not sure but probably $200 or so.

$1085 (divided by 2 guys) for use of a 23 footer for 4 days, and a fishing buddy who knows the lay of the land... you aren't going to find an option better than that!

you might want to talk to Dago, he has the truck for it and I bet he would at least try hard to swing the dates, maybe send him a pm

Last trip there and back towing with 3/4 ton chev diesel cost $681.00.
No ferry cost. More like 3000km return so it will cost you a 1000.00 between 2 of you for 3 days of fishing.
It will cost me similar for fuel bait etc in the boat.... Hope we don't loose to much gear.

Hey Chris Sounds like good and very fair deal to me. I would say that you might even be picking up more than half the tab with the price of fuel there and lets face it boats are pigs on gas.
I know we usually burn $150 - $200 a day on gas when it was sitting around 1.15 a liter for mid grade marine fuel, and whats it at there now? 1.40?

Good deal forsure and I would be game but I leave on the 8th for Port Hardy and wont return until the 16th /17th so my pillow would be on the step when I got home if I went again in such a short period.......late august may be an option if your up for another trip.

If somebody hasnt already jumped at this offer I would suggest doing so asap as this is practically a fully guided trip with accomodations for only the extra gas that towing a boat would consume!!

Cheers,
Mike
