Went down to the NSR in Edmonton limits around 7pm-1030pm with a couple friends. Ended up catching 8 walleye, 2 pike, and 2 goldeye off pikeral rigs, Jigs, and spinners. (no river monsters though) Also had a a fish putting up one hell of a fight swimming back and forth a few meters than proceed to bend my jig head, and get off! Anyone had this happen before? I posted some random snaps of some of the catch. I'm the turkey in the black hat :) lol

Looks like you guys had a great time.

What are you usin for bait?

Last fish that straightened my hook was a white sturgeon, sounds like you had a river monster on!

Nice looking fish. Looks like a nice evening on the river.

Try loosening up your drag a bit. If a fish straightens your hook before breaking your line something isn't set up right on your gear. Those fine wire jig head hooks are very flexible and a bit lighter drag would have kept that fish on most likely.

NPauls is right, I was using braided line, so the drag should have been less than what I had it set at. The fish was pulling line some, but I shouldn't have tried to muscle the fish in as much as I did or i could have landed it. So point definately noted! Parkers minnows on the rig wouldn't last more than 10 mins in the water. My friends made me stop using the p-rig because it was *unfair* after the 4th fish haha. But other than that mostly Orange Orange Orange jigs, and my lucky red and white santa jig that always seems to bring home presents, and some blue fox's did the trick.

Only the old cranky beavers.

Could have been a foul hooked sucker....... I've done that and it felt like I was fighting a 20 pound fish, but it was a sucker hooked in the tail. Doesn't take long for them to straighten out a hook.
