Wow, that is one smart, and very lucky seal. Generally orcas like to play seal-football, with the eventual demise of the victim (football). In the same situation, I'd have left the area before the activity gets too close. But as it is, it might have been a better recourse to bring the damaged seal to a local marine agency for a checkup before dispatching it. IMHO it would increase survival chance for the seal. But then again, I'm not a coast resident, so what would I know... hehehe.
