so last weekend me and my dad decided to head up to our favorite mountain lake near canmore known for producing smaller lake trout (and im sure most people know where im taking about! :sHa_sarcasticlol: ) we usually go from shore right after ice out and have good luck. well we got out there and after an hour of no luck figured we may be too late when the bite finally came on and i caught a 2-2.5lb pound laker! i was thuroughly suprised considering how typically small they are from this lake and continued on fishing, as soon as my line is back in the water WHAM i got a big hit and the best fight a fish has ever gave me began! i brought him in close to shore but he took a big run before i could catch a glance of him, played him a bit longer and finally got him to close enough to see and my jaw almost hit the ground! he took a few more small runs before he was finally netted and brought to shore. I was so ecstatic its hard to put into words. my smile was almost as big as the one on my dads face! all in all an amazing day that im never going to forget.

the bigun is waiting for an oppertunity for a big family dinner or sunday, the rest of the guys are off the smoker... in my humble opinion you cant beat wild, smoked lake trout!!

Those are fantastic. It makes me want to go shore fishing up there this weekend. I only ever ice fish there because it is usually windy.

The best way to enjoy a lake trout is called "cheeck and release". Its a great way to catch many many fish and then at the end of the day have a bag full of cheeks that are soooooooo tasty

Better bring one when you come south in August...

Good luck fishing this weekend, don't fall asleep on the troll.

Ok, I'll bite. Is this an inside joke or has this actually been done? The reason I ask is that I wouldn't put it past some people.
