Looking to get more serious into bottom bouncing. What are your favorite lures for walleye using this technique? How fast should I be trolling? FOW?

There's no wrong way to bottom bounce, just make sure your rig don't tangle up, fish 3-30 FOWGL

speed and depth will be determined by success....find the fish and what they want and use that as a guide.

Stick with floating rigs....much easier to keep from tangling....vary leader length to achieve proper running depth.

Alot of the time we will test the spinner before letting it go to bottom in the water beside the boat....as long as your spinner is spinning you are good to go. Pick a speed just fast enough to get a steady spin for starters. Use an s-like trolling pattern and you will often find you get a hit on the inside or outside turn of the troll.

So spinners is the lure of choice? I've done a whackload of trolling, but all with spoons, and crankbaits. What are some examples of "floating rigs" for eyes?

3 way swivel. Have your weight sitting about 4-5" under the swivel. Weights will vary in size depending on the speed, depth, and wind. Tie a 6-7 foot 6 or 8lb test flourocarbon leader to the swivel. Slide on a lindy float. They sell them in bulk at wholesale sports. Then attach a slip bobber bead 5-6" above the single hook. I like to troll slow .6 to 1mhp. using leetches or worms. You can youtube Al Linder Lindy rigging for a good example.

3-foot spinner rig with a with a #3-5 blade and a nightcrawler or frozen minnow for bait. Troll at 3/4-1 mph and catch fish all day.

I usually pull spinner rigs about 1.1 mph and as fast as 2 mph sometime. Floating rigs are spin-n-glows or rigs with the cylinder float, or trolling with a floating crank (extend snell to 6ft when pulling crank).I use mostly colorado blades, but smileys work well to, and they spin at about 1/3 the speed of colorados, if you need to go slow.

They work well for pike as well, but tie them out of titanium.
