Spent the morning fishing the east end of the lake. As per normal we were catching 2 foot pike regularly. Motored out to the middle area and the fish finder showed 12 to 15 fish stacked from 5' to 14'. It wasn't a one time shot becasue we motored around the area for a bit and kept getting screens full of fish. They wouldn't take anything we offered (all artificial).

What do you think they were and what should we be using for bait?

Yep, whitefish. I've never targeted them though...maybe try a wireworm tipped with a couple maggots under a slip bobber?

Set your sonar /fishfinder with arches not fish . It's far better for reading .

As for catching summer whitefish , small flies and wire worms with worm .

As for pike I've been having luck catching the better. Fish in 15 to 22 feet of water , we got far less Fish but fish over the 20 lb mark . Pm me if you want and I have some places you might wanna try .

Thanks for the prompt replys

I thought they would be whites (process of elimination).

We used to fish them every winter until everything started going to shot at Wab - 5 - 6 years ago. Maybe we'll take the ice fishing rods and wire worms on the next trip.

I am just getting used to my Humminbird - provides great deal of info. A big step up from my old Eagle II from the 80's.
