I'm driving out there from upstate NY to fish S. Alberta trout rivers. Camping and fishing away from crowds. Help needed.

Water is very high and muddy as of yesterday(higher than normal snowpack in the mtns) in the Oldman drainage. With luck it should clear up by then.
You can't go too far wrong on this drainage, but for something different try the upper Racehorse creek(Oldman trib) as well as Daisy crk(runs into Racehorse just before Racehorse enters the Oldman). Lots of guys on the Livingstone these days, but still fishes well.

If you are fly fishing...use stimulators...we catch about 35 a day using them on the livingstone

With a fly rod.

This area is pretty busy. Lots of camper party quadders. The fishing can be good.

Try the Castle river along with crowsnest, there gonna be in abit better shape then the oldman and livingstone, You will never escape the crowds sorry man its a zoo down there.

agree. July and August is crazy busy on the Oldman system. Farther south from the cities might be better

I have never been to NY but I suspect what this guy considers crowded is in a different realm then that of an Albertan. I'm sure he will find the area quite peaceful. Give the Livingstone a few casts can't go wrong.
