Maybe a compre or crucial...medium power, extra fast or fast tip something around 7' or greater in length.
What species are you intending to mainly catch?

A crucial would be an amazing rod do go with it. Suuuper light IM10 Graphite Fuji guides. Very sensitive!
St. Croix Avid, St Croix Legend Elite, legend tournament and Legend extreme are amaizing rodas as well. I personally think. St croix makes better rods than shimano since they are still hand made in Wisconsin :)
Also check out the Rapala XLT :)

I think it would be best suited to a ML powered 6 foot to 6'6" rod. Would be a great jigging setup.

Go with one of my previous choices...if you're spending that much on a reel, you'll want a decent rod!
But if you're looking for a budget rod that is still a great match, look at the new line from Shimano, I think it's called Convergence. Can pick one up for under $100 usually.

Cosmetically I would match that to a St Croix Rage RS610MLXF rod. Would be great for walleyes
Only issues I have with the Ci4's are the red/black..... if they had blue/black, Id be all over them. I like the Stradic FJ series because the white goes with all the colors that the glorious St. Croix pumps out on their rods. :sHa_shakeshout:

Your kidding right? I mean I never heard of anyone worrying about colour matching a reel to a rod. LOL

I thought the same thing when I was looking a few years ago, bought a 7' 1 piece Compre medium w/x-fast tip. Probably the best decision I ever made!! Tosses a 1/8oz jig or spinner just as far as it will a 1oz spoon! Matched it with a 2500 Symetry reel (Ci4's weren't out yet). Never had an issue with catching or hooking any species. And the feel is just incredible!
It's all on how it feels though, so definitely check out your options!

im sure theres some guys that wont agree with me but if your on a budget (sort of) check out the shimano clarus (7') has a good tip and is very durable.
Just a caution, I hv replaced alot of these with broken tips, and not just an inch or two, most to the 1st or second guide.
Nice inexpencive rod thought.
