Hi,

Heading into Lakeland in August for a family canoe trip. Looking for some depth and structure maps of Kinnard, Jackson, Mugguffin, etc.

Tried SRD and Anglers Atlas.

Trying to find places to fish for perch ... although it could be tough that late in the season. Want the kids to catch a few for the pan. .... although pike on the ultra light rod will be a blast!!!!!

Thanks in advance for anything.

I've never really targetted perch. I'm just going to try and find some holes/structure and fish maggots (jigs and flies)

There is a book you can pick up at the fishing hole. Its old school but it helps.
We tried everywhere for perch this spring and never caught a thing. We saw thousands of three to five inch perch near the shores but nothing of size. I have caught a few twelve thirteen inchers there over the years but Im usually lucky if i catch five perch in a day. There are tons of small pike in there.

Also the bugs are pretty bad on the other lakes i have been on in the area. If I had kids i wouldn't want them wearing off, considering how many rain jackets, and pairs of safety glasses i have seen it melt. I highly recommend bug jackets, and citronella, rosemarry,or catnip extract. Catnip is supposed to work the best.

Levy - get a Thermacell, you'll never see another bug.

I think your S.O.L. if you couldn't find them on the Angles Atlas, it has the most listings by far. Here is a link to the book I believe the one poster was mentioning...

The lakes you mentioned aren't listed at this site either...

Kinnard and Jackson are in that book. I have two of them just threw out the water damaged warped one this morning. Im confident McGuffin was in there but it was pretty damaged. I didn't see blackett but it could have been missing from the book. I'll try find my other one tomorrow and maybe scan them for you.

Which book do you have? The link for the one I posted definitely doesn't have them, I just checked again. Do you have a different book perhaps?

It isn't the Lakes of Alberta Atlas. Its Old School. Its a ringed paper covered book of a decent number of Alberta lakes and they all look hand drawn. I think it has a black cover with a white topographic display but my book is missing its cover. It has every lake in the park and my guess is the angling feed back is from the seventies or eighties (maybe even older) considering how the species for touchwood lists lake trout. Its not the highest quality but its gives you a good idea of what the lakes are like.

I forgot McGuffin but i recommend buying the book if still available. I picked mine up at the fishing hole in West Ed about three years ago.

Thats a different one than the link I had posted. I'm going to have to keep an eye out for the one you have...
