I am going camping at the end of the month and I am trying to decide where. What are your favorite spots? Anything from 1-8 hours from Edmonton. I have a camper van so I can go to populated as well as remote spots. Also I would love to catch some fish as an added bonus.

X2 it's a very nice spot, just call ahead to make sure they have a spot. If you havea boat you can use it there as well or if you want you can fish from shore as well :)

Spruce Point Park on lesser slave. Back you camper right down to the beach, wade out 50 yards and fish away. Located in the middle of the lake at Kinuso. About 2 1/2 hours from Edmonton.

Drive the Forestry Trunk road(hwy 40) from Nordegg south and camp all along the way. Dozens of streams to fish, a real fun adventure if it is your first trip down the road. All gravel.

fish lake by nordegg. nice campground especially if you get a site by the lake, and a great base camp to explore the many rivers and lakes in the area.

also Pierre Grey Lakes by Grand Cache is a nice spot to camp with the 3 lakes to choose from plus many other lakes and rivers in the area to explore

but i also would second the Forestry Trunk road option, even the stretch from hwy 16 to nordegg is worth exploring also. lots of lakes and rivers in that stretch also worth hitting up.

Do yourself a Favor and if you have never been go camp in Kananaskis , Tons of fishing oppurtunitys , with or without a boat . There is Wedge Pond , and many others , you can fish the upper and lower Kananaskis , and you are about 45 minutes to an hour from Banff . If I was you Id give it a serious thought .
