We'll be camped at Jarvis Bay PP next week and managed to reserve a site just off the water. I know there's not an official boat launch there but is it possible to hand launch a canoe at that campground? The pictures of the campsite look as though there is a path down to the water where we can possibly launch and then keep our canoe on shore for the three days we'll be there. Can anyone confirm?
And assuming we'll be starting out from there, which way should I point the Canoe to get into some fish? (species doesnt matter but Pike/Walleye preferrably) We have a 38lb electric and the canoe clips along pretty good, but I'd prefer to find fish nearby without getting capsized by ski boats...
Thanks for any suggestions!

Given that the weather looks a tad sweltering, I was also wondering if one can also wade/swim off the Jarvis Bay Campground.

It has been a long time since I was at that campground, and as things change over time, I couldn't advise you on the boat access part. I remember being able to carry a zodiac down to the water. I imagine you should be able to do likewise with a canoe.
As for swimming/wading, I remember it being gravel/rocky along there. So I guess wearing runners or something would be a good idea to wade along close to shore.
I don't recall any sudden drop off's there, but it does get deeper as you wade out, a bit quicker than the beach in town. So if you have small kids, keep that in mind.

Bump! Heading out there for some camping. Hows the fishing from shore?
I've always wanted to try lake white fly on the fly, would i be wasting my time fishing from shore with a fly rod?

Its a drop off from campground to lake. And rocky shore.
Ive caught whites off shore from jarvis in winter time but there are deeper than you can get to by wading.
Wade in for pike on the opposite shore.

There are a few foot paths that lead down to the water. It won't be easy but definitely possible. I'd say just take a hike or a bike ride around the paths a look for yourself.
