Suckers are a solid fish.

We caught a 4lb sucker and a 4lb laker on the same day this spring and the laker had almost double the volume/size of the sucker.

i agree that those suckers are very solid and tough. i harvest at least 1 a week for a buddy of mine and he says they taste great.
