Hi Everyone,

I am a newb at fly fishing and am looking to get my first rod. Can anyone comment on these two packages:

Fishinhole: http://www.thefishinhole.com/index.cfm?action=product&se=26404

Cabela's: http://www.cabelas.ca/index.cfm?pageID=71&&section=1188&section2=1632&ID=21579

For cabela's I would be looking at model: 905-4

I will mainly be using this for trout in lakes.

Thank you very much.

TFO package.... or head to bass pro, select the rod you actually like and pair it up to a reel. you might spend an extra 50 or so but at least you can say its yours.

For a starter package, go with the fishin' hole TFO package. Nothing wrong with it and warranty is bar none.

x2

Id spend a little more on a nice rod and line, cheap reel.. and upgrade on a reel later on

I started with a combo package and it did its job but when I upgraded the rod and line the casting became immediately easier.. plus you get to call it your own.

if not then Id take the TFO combo or Redington makes a nice combo with there pursuit rod, also lifetime warranty.

For a better rod, better line, and a MUCH better real for about the same price as the Fishin' Hole TFO combo, look here...........http://www.outdoorsmenforum.ca/showthread.php?t=140536

I was in the same position as you just a few weeks ago, and a buddy of mine who lives and breaths fly fishing lead me in this direction. Very good gear for the green.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I will probably take it and go with the FH rod. I would consider buying used, however I am in Edmonton and MH is a little too far. :)

Thanks for the offer.
