Spent a few days this week at our family cabin on Sturgeon Lake.
Took the boys out, and they loved it - the action was amazing.
We do this old school in the canoe (about a 45 year old sportspal), no motor, no sonar.
in between storms on Wednesday Night we headed out and had to duck into a sheltered cove until the wind died enough for me to be really comfortable in a canoe with a 6-year-old. Caught a few there in 4 feet of water.
Then when the wind came down a touch, we muscled over to the spot we wanted - and boom there they were. 51 in an hour in the canoe. 3 triple headers (one with our final 3 minnows). Walleye ranged from 15-22 inches. one 29 inch Pike (skinny), and this beauty Perch (so fun when the big ones get in with the 'eyes - hasn't happened for me in years).
He out-did everyone and caught 23 fish on my ultralight rod - what fun!
That's the kind of night that gets kids into this stuff.
