We were supposed to go fishing Pembina river Saturday but Friday night the GF biffed it on some kids toys. Long story short, we didnt go fishing saturday to Pembina, busy at xrays and etc. LOL

After some shopping I decided why not hit the NSR instead for a few hours. GF's eldest kid didnt complain so off we went.

He's never baitfished before, and as much as I hate Pickerel Rigs , I set him up. Some minutes went by and fish kept stealing his minnows. He sure was excited and kept watching the rod for movement like someone was going to steal it, lol.

After a while he learned when to set the hook and caught his first Goldeye. As it went dark, managed a few Walleyes but he couldnt figure out my cell phone camera and they are all blurry :P

His First Goldeye...

He wasnt afraid to fold it up for a pic so that is a good sign, lol.

Good job! Those are fun to catch!
Are you going to eat him? Can you? How would you prepare it?
We catch quite a few and have always just put them back because we didnt know what else to do.
