Ok, so I finally had the chance to head out and do some personal fishing with one of my guides (Dave Uzzell)

The fishing was just plain stupid with tons of fish around, so we thought we would try and nail one on my 8weight fly rod running a mid sized blue bucktail.

Dave comes up with the idea that we should try it off the down rigger.. What the hell, give it a go I say...

8 smashes later and a fairly steep learning curve, we came up with this.

You guys that think Coho are not a challenge or worth a trip MUST come try this. We have fine tuned exactly what we need to do and I look forward to trying it over the next few days. BUT MAN OH MAN.. What a rush. These incredibly hard fighting fish and all you have in your hand is a 8 Weight fly rod with a Islander reel. I think fishing will never be same for me.

Whats going to happen when we start hitting 15-18# Coho in the coming weeks??????

nice , very hard fighting fish IMO . My bro told me a saying tonight from the coast " if you had a telephone post over the end of the boat a coho would bend it " if you get a 10 pound plus on your fly rod , hold on , lol
