So I have an old aluminum boat that we use to troll an I fun the speed transducer on my fig finder unreliable. Is there an accurate gps device or something that could be used?

Are they accurate? I read the water if moving throws them off but I truly have no idea.

I like cheesies. length of boat in meters. time cheesie to pass bow to stern . one meter per second = 1.2 mph. 5 meter boat, 2.5 seconds = 2 .4 mph. oh you throw the cheesie in the water. then do timing. hope that helps.

Any decent handheld GPS is as accurate as a speedometer in your car.....maybe more so as they aren't reliant on tire dimensions etc...
