Well on the advice of a certain moderator, who shall remian nameless, hit Wabamun Saturday morning for a grand total of 30 minutes before we were chased off the lake. We were to meet Geezle there but he pulled a mulligan due to weather as well.

Sunday saw a nice morning so I headed back to try my luck. Geezle showed up about 1 hour after I had hit the lake. We fished every known spot on that lake darn near. Humps, weeds, Fallis point etc and the fishing was slow to say the least but the nice weather made up for it. Marked a lot of fish in 30 feet of water around Fallis but anything we caught was smaller, say 2 to 3 lbs max.

After approximately 6 hours of chucking lures, decided to troll for a bit for a break and see if we could find some fish. Trolling a big orange and yellow Rapala in 8 feet of water got me my biggest fish of the day. Geezle will post pics soon as he was the photographer. Geezle did catch his biggest of the day in the weed beds along the southside of the lake.

My second biggest of the day. Shows the hook I caught the biggest of the day on. This fish was long but lean.

My biggest pike of the day I did not measure nor weigh as it was so darn hot out and we had a bit of a battle prior getting her to the boat so couple of quick pics and I got her back in the water.

After 10.5 hours on the lake, called it a day.

LoL. Sour grapes sour grapes! Weather could have been nicer.

Congrats on the fish.. In the bottom pic s that the easy 20lb'r I heard about?

Saturday wasn't a total bust.....did catch the only pike saturday even though it was twice the size of my 12 inch crank...........also fished the Ste Anne narrows on way home and caught 12 'eyes total before it dumped there too.. And after dinner fished the nsr by Fort Sask and slayed a few goldeye.

Was definitely a strange day for fishing on Wab...John and I were all over the lake, hitting all of our usual spots, plus some new ones along the way...and throwing damn near everything we had, and the fishing (at least for us) was just plain slow. I mean we got at least a few fish pretty much everywhere we went, but it certainly wasn't what I'm used to for quantity of fish on Wab.

To put it another way, I cooked through over a half tank of gas yesterday...and with my little 9.9 that's a *lot* of cruising around the lake!

Still though, it was a beautiful day on the water, and I could think of far worse ways to spend the day :)

As a sidenote, anybody ever come across this pattern of Len Thompson spoon? It's like the green/black frog pattern, but different colors. Stumbled across a couple in a small tackle shop, and haven't seen them since, and I'd like a couple more, in different sizes.

edit: after looking at the pics again, I think John's fish could almost eat mine!

My friend and I fished Wabamun on Friday between 10 and 7 pm and caught 20 fish between the two of us. The largest of which would have been around 4 - 5 lbs, we had 1 much larger fish follow our lure to the boat but wouldnt hit. This next weekend is Regatta at Seba beach you can expect the lake to be alot busier especially the boat launchs. I plan on being on the lake early every morning while everyone else is nursing their hangover.Good luck.

The black smokercraft on the "secret spot" was TrophyPikeHunter and his boy. They were surprised to see so many boats out there on Sunday. Usually we are the only guys out there.

They landed a few nice ones in the >10lb range.

I have a couple of those in #4 size. Its not a common one to see on the shelf, and I can honestly say I've only really noticed them in the bigger size. Maybe get ahold of the company and see what they say, they are in Lacombe after all...:D

Unless I'm mistaken, that looks like a barbed hook on that lure ( middle hook)
are they now allowed for fishing?

Mistaken.... I can see on my cell phone it is barbless. The one hook is angled into the other.. Making it look like a big barb lol.

Thoes chartruse spoons are good producers on Wab, found that out after loosing my last five of diamonds one trip out. Can tire and wally world usually have em up to a #2. going out there this weekend, if ya see a 16 misty river with a johnson on it, say hi.
