Has anybody been up there lately?
A buddy of mine used to own a lodge up there so I have been there several times, both in the spring and fall. Had some GREAT TIMES up there. But I haven’t been up there since 04.
We have caught some huge LAKERS, PIKE and some nice Grayling. Have not caught any Walleye yet. Probably cause we spent most of our time fishing for Lakers.
One of the guys from work has lined up a trip for us, were going up on June 29th for 4 days. I can't wait to get back up there.
I can recall one day we were out, my buddy hooked 2 Husky Devils together in tandem with a swivel in between. The entire thing was probably about 20 inches long. He tossed it over and we started trolling. His fishing rod was doubled over from dragging the contraption around. But it only took about 5 minutes and he had 30lb Laker on.
After seeing that I rigged up a Salmon flasher with a 6" leader and a single Siwash hook and caught my biggest Laker so far at 37 lbs. We would usually do pretty good on the big Jacks as well. Lots in the 15 to 20 lb range.
Anyway, enough ranting here's a few pics from previous trips.
Hope to add some more after June 29th.

Rigg are you going with an outfitter or just on your own? If so, which one?

Glad you guys liked the pics.

Were going up to Lake Athabasca Lodge, it's on Grouse Island which is close to Long Island on the Saskatchewan side of the lake.
It used to be called Lake Athabasca Tours when my buddys brother owned it. We never used any guides when we were up there, not sure if we will have to now with a new owner. I would rather we didn't have to use one.
Always had excellent fishing when we went up.
Are you thinking about going up?

Yeah, I know the place pretty well. The new owner's name is Dollard, and yes, you can still go out w/o a guide if you choose. Really nice guy....tell him I say "Hi" when you get up there. Sounds like you know the lake pretty well, nice pics!
Not going up this year......I was up there for 4 months last year guiding. I was actually a manager at another lodge in the area, but got another offer for this upcoming season that I couldn't turn down at another location.
Looks like you don't need any help catching big ones, but if you are interested, I still have my GPS with a few good holes on it......lemme know.
Best of luck........man, I love that lake. The new world record is in there somewhere..........I woulda liked to have gotten a glimpse of a few that got away.
Bobby.
