Bought a couple new electric downriggers and trying to decide on where to set them up on the boat. Any suggestions?

It is best to set them in your boat and try a few spots and see where they work best for you. Try and keep them towards the back of the boat but yet far enough ahead so's that when they are folded in the weights still remain in the boat. Again set them in the boat run through a few scenarios before mounting them. Its a bugger to make a hole in a boat so when you do make sure its in the rite place.

Here are a couple pics showing where I mounted mine.

Hope these help and maybe give you a couple ideas...

I'm trying to go by memory but I think my dad had his downriggers mounted on the side, but towards each of the back corners. (running them off to the side of the boat) He had one or two more that ran off the back of the boat, but I believe the ones on the side were our primary riggers. Boy I miss the days of salmon fishing on the Great Lakes. What did you buy?

Thanks guys for the advice. I was originally leaning towards mounting them on the side like you boat Walleye and after seeing your pics I definately think this is the best option. I have two Walker electrics.

My buddy and I set up a couple of electrics two years ago. We set them up a foot from the back of the boat. Works well because the arms will reach far enough to swing behind the boat if need be.
