I just picked up my first boat,a 2008 larson ski&fish 18ft 220hp.It's not the full out fishing boat I wanted but had to make the wife happy and I have 3 kids that want to wakeboard so I was out numbered.I love pike and walleye fishing, last year I trolled from a canoe but this year is better.I was just wondering if anyone can tell me when I could put my new toy in some water to fish, last year I had alot of fun at pine lake, not bad fish.

When the Ice comes off. , but check the regs to find out when the season opens. If I am not mistaken, most will open up may 16th.

Congrats on the new toy.

I know it's early but it's my first boat and it's painfull watching it snow on the boat. You are correct may 16th is the first day, but glennifer lake is open year round.I have hooked some nice walleye, pike and browns from the bottom of the dam so I hope the lake has as much luck for me.There's allways BC but fuel prices are getting out of hand.

If you go south you can fish starting may 8th, in most places good walleye fishing down there to.

I'm from calgary and have some family in redeer. My problem is I have been a fly fisherman for the past 25 years, got out last year in my brothers canoe,30lb thrust motor trolling for pike and walleye loved it now I'm hooked.Still keeping the flyrod for pike sound's like alot fun.Thank's, looks like I joined a really good, helpfull and friendly place.

Yes, this is a great place to come. Either just to chat or ask a question, I would be afraid to guess at the vast wealth of knowlage all the members here have.

I have a Minn Kota 24 volt 70lb thrust trolling motor mounted on the front of an 18ft-3000lb boat.I have been told that it will troll my boat along no problem at about 2.5mph,I don't know? Can any body help. The main motor is a 220hp with a Happy Troller plate on the leg, that should work I hope.

as a rule i think you want 5 lbs of thrust for every 200 lbs of weight dont forget to include your cargo in that.
