Fallen Timber Creek

Heading up to Fallen Timber creek on sunday for the first time. I am leaving from Calgary, any advice on good spots to park and perhaps a good dry fly to tie on?

I've fished from the ACA site and farther down the creek. Nothing for me but that's just my luck and lack of knowledge. Have seen bites and action. Gorgeous area as well. Best of luck

I'm seeing grasshoppers in the fields near there, try a dry elk hair caddis or a hopper. If they are taking hoppers you'll have a great time.

And if the above fails, put the fly rod away and use a small 5 of diamonds. We have the Fallen Timber go through some family land and when they aren't hitting flys, the 5 of diamonds almost always works.

My wife is the current champ who has landed a few big browns this year. Last summer I pulled out a 10lbs+ pike that was quite a surprise!

A tough creek to fish, especially on the fly, but super rewarding when you hook into something.

I got out and it was a great time, and a beautiful place to fish. All I could manage was this guy on a purple leech, which I thought was decent for a Brook trout, and a couple bites. I think I was too far west for Browns, perhaps they are closer to Sundre?

The Browns are there, its just a tough creek to fish. They are super spooky. I usually approach the holes very slowly downstream from the bush before casting.
