Catch and Release statistics?

Just curious what amount of guys, and gals on this forum practice catch and release fishing in some form in alberta. Im also curious if there is a difference in percentages in age groups. If any one has these statistics please share.

100% catch and release. Okay technically I'm working on the catching part but when I eventually manage that I'd release it. So far I'm on 'Catch and have it jump out of the net twice.' Correction: I'm on the 'Get a bigger net' part...but after that, release :p

Same for me. 99% of the time it's catch and release, but when I'm at the right location with the right gear (frying pan) I may eat a keeper. Otherwise it's not worth the hassle of taking my *usually* one keeper worthy fish the two hour trip home to hit my frying pan. It might change when I get a boat and don't have to fish from shore... but until then, C&R for me.

Now that you guys mention it I realize I should have put another one. I should have labelled it occasional harvest.

I can honestly say even though i wouldn't expect the same numbers in the general public i am surprised at what percentage of people on the forum are strictly catch and release. I would have thought most people would be somewhere in the middle. I also would have thought that there might be a difference between generations in angling practices but the ratios seem almost identical.

Over 30 and mostly catch and release.
When we make extended trips out in the bush, we do eat fish every second day to help conserve the food we bring out with us.

Catch and release mostly, as for the keeping part, lets say a lake has 3 walleye over 50cm, generally only take 1, when we do keep, depending on the lake, survivability, and condition of the fish AFTER the release.

Most lakes around Edmonton are catch and release,so after fishing these lakes all year, I will head farther north and have a shore fish lunch every day . (age group over 30)

I'm a C&R guy, however will keep a brookie if it eats my hook, and the odd chain lakes rainbow trout. going to keep some fish when I buy the expensive BC license though next week :)

Never keep. Love fishing but dont care much for the eating part. Way over 30.

I rarely keep anything but will harvest the odd northern pike or walleye if the lake is cold enough. I primarily target trout and always put them back, I'm just not a fan of the way they taste when the water warms up.

95% catch and release. When I go home to northern Sask, it's catch and keep. Early winter I catch and keep my trout from lakes subject to winterkill like Chicacoo and Saur, to put in the smoker and stock up on smoked fish for xmas. Otherwise sometimes my friends will want some fish, so I'll keep a couple when legal, and get together for a fish fry and beers.

I'm going to slay the whites for the next 8 weeks or so though.
