Anything small really.....super small adams or pale morning duns....I also had luck on hoppers and limited luck on green drakes recently

oh and super small white parachute flies!

August is HOT for dry flies, especially the ones here.

I've been finding plenty of stone fly shells along the Highwood the past week or so.

Use any big dry fly. Hoppers in the afternoon.

They're really hitting the Stone flies hard...both drys on top and big nymphs below the surface. really good hopper dropper action.

Odd, I was there Sun and Mon and they didnt hit any of my stims or caddis and I fished all sizes and colours. They also werent hitting my dry stone flies....they bit my buddies wet stone once or twice though. And they also hit the prince nymph once or twice. That said, 3 of us fishing for 2 days straight had all of our luck on almost exclusively small dries. Small adams & PMD's.....the only large fly I had luck on was a black and grey hopper pattern for some reason. If you dont have any luck with the above mentioned flies give a really small black or white fly (parachute even) a try and see if your results change.
Its such a great river and soo many fish I know all the flies mentioned will work but I think it just depends on the day and the hatch.
Cheers

EDIT*****OOOPPSS I thought we were talking about livingston for a min!!.....these flies may work there too though******

On Sat we had some smaller cutties go for the stimulators but the bigger fish slammed my san juan and prince nymphs. Course I was fishing them in 20 feet of water so dries were kinda useless in those holes.

My two biggest rainbows of the day were 18" footballs that took the nymphs. I kept one white for dinner and the stomach was full of ants so some kind of ant pattern should work too.
