Just caught the tail end of a piece on the news yesterday about BLUE-GREEN algae in Eagle lake and they are advising people to stay clear of the water. Anyone hear the full segment or know anything about this?? How dangerous is this algae? First i've ever heard of this. I had fished Eagle earlier in the season also so some info is appreciated.

If you want more info on the issue try this link to Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development's info centre:

I should add this is not new for Eagle Lake as it has a very long history of toxic cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms. There has even been documented cases of cattle mortality following consumption of water from Eagle Lake.
