Well just got back from nfld a little over a week ago and today found out that grandma went to the hospital and probably won't be comin home this time, the family was all called out lastnight, they can't get her oxygen level up.

So, as last minute flights are kind of really expensive, I'm gonna drive, leaving tomorrow I think. Does anyone have a tidy tank with pump they use for gas that I could borrow for the trip. I can save a few bucks by filling it at ufa and using it in places where gas it really high.

Thanks

Sorry for your loss, happened to me with my grandma while on a hunting trip last November. After we got back to the motel we got the message from the motel owner saying that there was an emergency and we needed to head home.

It wouldn't be so bad if she was the grandma I didn't really know, but she basically raised ne, when grandpa died I moved in with her until I moved to Alberta. Worst part was when I left to come to Alberta last week she even said this is probably the last time ill see ya.

90 definitely is a ripe old age. There sure is alot of longevity back on the rock, both my grandmothers lived to see 90. My great grandmother died at 105, sharp as a tack the day she passed.

I've always said that our generation doesn't know what tough is.

Condolences.

I hear ya. Not many people today would.raise 13 kids of their own, plus a few who they didn't own, on a basically minimum wage pay at the best of times. I asked last year why did they take in the other kids, and she said " well someone had to look after em, you can't let em starve" She used to tell me stories of not eating for a.week or more just so the children had food. Definitely a different breed of people.

Amen to that. It saddens me to see the older generations dying off, death of living history. I wish i could go back in time and record the stories we were told by them over the years...

The stars aligned that you had a recent visit with her. She sounds like a LADY that a movie could be made of. Thanks for the pic. Our condolences.

My condolences Leeaspell.

If you must fly the major airlines used to have a "breavement reduction" for flights such as the one you would be taking. There were certain details that had to be handled but if I remember correctly there was about a 40% reduction offered as a refund. I would suggest calling Air Canada or WestJet.
Regards,
Dave.

Oh yeah....and I have a 100 gallon tidy tank that you may borrow if you have your heart set on driving. It had diesel in it this spring but is empty now and I cannot see a tiny amount of diesel in 100 gallons of gasoline causing any trouble.

I am sure granny is in heaven having a smoke (tax free) and looking down on her favourite grandchild with a great big smile.

Sorry for your loss Leaspell.

Very Sorry to Hear Laddie..Sounds like she had a pretty good Life surrounded by all the Kids even though I know Outport life was certainly hard at times....I'm second youngest of 14 Kids..Parents long gone now..Can't remember any Grandparents..Pretty cool that you got to see her this summer. Great Pic of the Lady is as well..I don't think there is a Bereavement Fare anymore but you should inquire..I think you can get the lowest fare offered..
