How many of you guys spent the weekend like myself, picking up the boat from it's winter home, washing the boat and last stocking it for the start of may..

gramps, do yourself a favour and get the verado.

A friend of mine runs a Verado 275 on a new Lund Baron and although he dosnt use it to troll all the time, he still does from time to time and has zero problems.
He cant hear it running, he said he's tried to re-start the boat numerous times when not paying attention because its so quiet.....luckily theyve designed them so you cant do that

Heres some good info on the other board im on......same questions as your own

Not that familiar with the Optimax gramps but I have been around the new Verado's and they are a fine engine.. I know my E-Tec sure trolls nice if a guy wants, I use the 9.9 for trolling but the first couple months I had the boat I waited on the 9.9 and trolled Cold Lake a couple times for lakers and it didn't seem to bother it at all. Mind you the E-Tec's are in a class of their own..

Just a question but why would you troll with the big engine and not get a kicker..

If at all possible go for the Verado gramps I think you will be much happier in the long run.. Remember a boat isn't something we buy every couple years they stay with us for quite a few years mite as well get what you want..

Let's see if I got this straight - you were looking for a small boat.
SHE wants a BIG boat.
is there a problem here??!!
This is ONE TIME I wouldn't even TRY and argue my point with my wife if I were you!!

Worry about it after, because whatever it is, she has already put the "plan" into action!
As an aside, I was talking to a buddy the other day who kust got his 300 RUM customized by Corelane's.
" Nice I said ", " ya name it yet?"
"Nope" he said " But the wife has - she calls it "Mexico", because that is where my next payckeck is going - with her attatched to it"!!:D

I figured it out, my wife wanted a new fridge we ended up with a new stove and dishwasher as well. Then when I starting talking about a new boat she could not say no. I ended up buying a 1995 Smokercraft Stilleto with all the buttons and whistles, I have had 12' and 14' alum. boats with 10 hp and 20 hp's. We took the new rig out to Wabby today for her maiden voyage and it was heavenly.

Ohhh how I wish I was able to get mine out this weekend.

We spent about half an hour of quality time together, but unfortunately, I won't see her again until June.

It sucks when your boat is in Saskatchewan. :(

I looked at my boat this weekend, trailer still needs welding and my brother took my motor, so i decided to wait till much later in the summer when it magically fixes itself  . Fishing from shore is much more fun anyway ;) .

I was originally looking for a lund wc-14dlx with a 20hp honda, but after the topic of taking out the family and doing some cruising came up,I moved up to the 1425 classic and a 40hp engine. When she discovered that it only had a single console, and didn't come with a full top,I decided on the 1625 rebel sport with a 60 or 75hp engine.I intend to buy the boat next weekend before it grows even more.:D

go with the 75 hp, I found out the hard way about under powering your boat you will not disappointed with the power.

I am really leaning towards the 75hp,it's easier to back off the throttle, than have it wide open and wish that there was more.;)
