Last sunday a freind and I went to a hole in the Red Deer river that we know of, we usually always catch walleye there. Around 7 o'clock in the evening I pulled a walleye that weighed more than 15 pounds on my cheap scale and I didn't have my tape measure with me but it came from the ground to the top of my pocket and I am 6' tall. The video of the release is here on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJDFVJ1IK0M. A couple photos of it as well are in my photos! I figured I would share this.

my scale is still sitting in the same spot the day I got it and its just above 15lbs, and the 36 is a guess for sure due to not having a tape measure, but we took a photo of it beside my leg with its fin on the ground just to have an idea and it came to my pocket, after we released it we went home and measured from the bottom of my foot to the top of my pocket and it was 36" so roughly we thought it was that length knowing thats huge for a wally. Again it was an incredibly beautiful fish and thought I would share it with people.

Very nice looking eye it's getting a little harder to land the big ones with the barbless rule, but it's nicer for releasing them.

Just a guess from similar eyes that I have caught on the river before I would estimate it at 30" and 7.5- 8 lbs. A good trophy size in my books.

I don't think it would be to far off 15 pounds, starring at the 11 pounder on my wall it looks bigger, nice fish and great video.

Wow.

30" might be pretty conservative

Looking at his fingers and giving 4 inches for the finger spread, 36 looks reasonable,,, gorgeous fish even if it were smaller,, you were there and the witness therefore yiur word is good in my books.

I gotta say that fish is definitely more than 6 pounds! My dad caught one of similar size (rough guess) back in MB and it was 13 pounds.

Tough to say without measurements (girth especially), but in the end, who cares? You caught and released a dandy walleye. Thanks for the pics.

Yes your right 30 might be a little conservative but I don't like to stretch the tape unless the fish gets away then the stories come out. Lol.

Nice walleye for sure, but the largest walleye I've caught was 86cm and fat but I don't think it was 15lbs. I'd say your around the 10-12lb mark with that one.

nice walleye, all 3 of them!!! (urs, christie's and rednecks) Caught a pretty big one the other day as well, roughly 30", very fun to catch!!!

Not being a smart a55 on this question, lip holders are new to me, why do people use them???

Also does holding a "15lb" fish only by the lip like that (with lip holders) do any damage to the fish??

Remember - the way you take the photo determines what size it looks like. After seeing alot of guys holding thier fish toward the camera (or maybe thier hands are bigger than mickey mouse's and 20" wide) - you never know really.

Alberta rednecks fish looks like twice the size of this 15lber - but who knows, maybe he's only 4'-11" and his hands are like that guys on the burger king commercial.

I'd agree it looks closer to 8-9lbs to me - but who knows really .....

I've got a hilarious photo of a 3lb laker that looks like a 10lber ..... we were jerking around with the camera and it was amazing what a camera angle, and a little trickery will do.

Learned this one from a few members on the forum.

Nice fish anyways - congrats to all of you.

well done. looks every bit of 36". largest i ever caught was a 26" spawned out female that topped the scales at just over 6 lbs. best thing to do would be to get down there and catch her again...lol no need to measure and weight her,it's a great fish.
