Always seem to catch alot of Goldeye out by Fort Sask.
Goldeye and Mooneye are residents of the NSR, some of the best fishing for the species takes place right in city limits.
They can be taken on rigs with a juicy dew worm or leech, or surface action is good with flies when the fish are surfacing.
Small spinners, spoons and jigs will work also.

Fort Saskatchewan is deadly for Goldeye , I find it kind of boring to fish for them Im, more of a pike , walleye , Burbot guy but there still fun to catch.

You probably wont start to see any goldeye for at least another couple of weeks yet. That is only from my experience.

I noticed last June, lots of fish rising to a hatch on theNSR, maybe will dust off my fly rod! thought they may be goldeyes
anything biting in there now? walleye? sauger?

I was getting into halfway decent numbers of walleye and pike (and one sauger) before the water got high and dirty, but since then I've been skunked.

I use a muddler minnow for goldeye thay seem to love it. Its also a great fly for wite fish and a bunch of other species so dont be surprised if u hook a few different kinds of fish on a outing
If you want some of the biggest pike this river has head out by Stony plain and take 770 south. It's a section southwest of Stony and is full of Sandbars, weeds, etc.
BIG PIKE!!!
