McGregor Whitefish

Wife is heading to Toronto for a conference this weekend and I figured its the perfect time to take the fly rod and pontoon to McGregor and try my luck at hooking some whitefish.
My question is are the whitefish on the bite right now or would I be wasting my time?

Whites bite good at macgregor all yeAr round. Mid nov to freeze up is best tho.

Was out for a couple hours on Saturday, mid-day, and only saw one rise. Saw lots on the sonar though. Well, I'm assuming they were whites, half way up in about 16' of water.

I would definantly give backswimmers a go, if the lake has scud i would try that and small leeches as well. Wire worm if all else fails, but I would bet on back swimmer or scud.
