Lots of times in lots of places - caught one this past weekend in meadow lake prov park, caught one in battle lake a few months ago and probably in a half dozen other places. Quite common actually.

I don't recall catching one from the river specifically but I'm sure they are there too.

ok, cool so its a bit more common than I think, Being from the east coast and fished most of my life I have never caught one on a hook an thought might be something special here.

ok now next question, can I use them for bait if I ever catch another one?

I caught clams, crayfish, turtles. My son had a huge seagull on in mid air once, but didn't land it - it got away

caught a big one at Battle this summer. It clamped down with amazing pressure. The young guy broke the shell while getting the hook out. They took the meat out, put on a jig and next cast... Wham... only keeper Pike of the day.

We used to catch them quite often in Slave Lake and at Wabasca. Found great big ones in French creek as well. Lots of small ones in Long Island.

weve caught 4 this year from the Bow and Oldman. the bottom is littered with them at the forks. not sure what the law is for using them for bait. every time the level drops you see trails where theyve gone out deeper. must be just reflex action for them to close when your hook hits them.

Lots of clams in the Pembina and LSL

I have seen people boiling them on the beach at LSL.

Not sure how they would taste.

Battle is home to clams of all sizes just put a camera down the water and you can see them on bottom opened up, ready for something to go thru the open shells, caught lots bottom bounceing in their. people will call you a liar when you tell them about the clams that you cuaght a battle lake.

My dad caught two last night at the SSR. Do they actually bite at the hook or is it more that a guy snaggs them?
