Spent a couple days up at the Blackstone, had great fishing and weather. Didnt run into as big of Cutties as usual, but most were in the 14-16" range, and alot of them. Couple little bulls as well. Found the largest Bulls i have seen in 19 years fishing that river. they were in Spawning mode, and not interested in anything, even when i caught a little cutt out of the same pool. two of them were paired up, so i left them alone. one was well over 10lbs...great to see them.http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t485/shortsvm/Picture367_zps5a788f88.jpg http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t485/shortsvm/Picture370_zps9afc0b79.jpg http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t485/shortsvm/Picture365_zps0f0ee017.jpg http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t485/shortsvm/Picture377_zpsccc091db.jpg

Beautiful cutts and bulls. Glad to hear you saw the big bulls, and even better to know you let them be. That's the next generation of Alberta's provincial fish in the making.

That stream is on my bucket list for next season, or maybe this year if I can make it up pretty darn quick! Looks like a fun day!

just as good as the Livingstone but without the hordes of random campers and fish with sore lips.

Looks like a good trip, thanks for posting

There is a ton of random campers around the blackstone area
Not as many as down south but there's still there

The pressure this river has seen in the last couple years, has been very high... The fishing is not what it used to be, if you are expecting to find untouched holes and fish without sore lips, keep searching...i have fished this river a looong time, it is a beautiful place, but sadly Has become very popular, which can only be expected...Just like any river, if you put your time in, it will reward you!

Not even in the same ballpark as the Livingstone in terms of the amount of campers and flyfishermen

Sweet pics, we where up there too this weekend for a day then headed to the ram last night and today, got some good footage of a couple bulls nailing white fish we had on in some of the big holes.

some beautiful cutts. thanking for the pics. i too have been observing the bulls over the past few weeks. it's a really amazing event to watch and i feel privileged to do this in my back yard. i've tried to shoot some video but each time the lighting hasn't been right. maybe next outing.

Agreed, I fished the livingstone this past summer and I hated it for that reason.

Hey, what are you doing resurecting old threads and making me think of +30, rising cutts, and celebatory beers afterward around a campfire?!? Lol... Sigh...

I looked at maps the other night and can't get it off my mind.
I've been thinking about it for the past few days.
Doing some research on some of my favorite rivers...

Sorry :)

Ya i hear ya! The hardest is when the river is actually open, but 3 feet high and chocolate milk, then its hurry up and wait, or chuck big bombers and hope for the best... Lol

When that is the case I usually end up in swan hills for grayling or on a lake with my boat.
