Chain lakes today

Just got back from chain lakes today and it was a beautiful day on the water. Got there at about 8:45am and was in the water by 9:15am. Got lots of bites as the fish were going crazy jumping almost a foot out of the water after flies. I got 2 rainbows in the first hour and then nothing for the last 3 hours. Talk to a couple people on shore and no one was getting anything. Glad I was there early. I think I might go back on Saturday.

They were tasty!! I was pleasantly surprised at the size of fish coming out of there today. :)

They do seem a bit bigger than the ussual 10"-12" bows out of there. Those look closer to 15" maybe.

Hopefully this stunted fishery will be improving as it looks like sizes are getting a bit bigger from a few guys I've talked to.

15-20 years ago is really when it started to decline (in terms of average catch size). The occasional 5lber was real nice back then and the average fish was a nice size too.

i was suprised too. last spring when i was there they were really small.
