Firstly...modelling. It has yet to be proved valuable with any degree of confidence in any use.

Secondly...guessing fish size changes in a fluid ocean with intensive fishing...give me a break.

Seems to me that the article refers to scientists with PhD's, data, supercomputer modeling software, and plenty of peer reviewed articles.

You bring to the table an opinion with zero credibility, a keyboard and some sort of Internet connection (unless you're thieving your neighbor's wifi signal).

I'll wait to read your rebuttal on BBC World News. Should be tittalating.

That's the beauty of our country; everyone is free to have an opinion. And if history has taught us anything it is that a PhD and "credibility" doesn't make you more right than the next guy. I am also sick of hearing about how "global warming" is destroying our world; everything from killing polar bears to "shrinking fish".

Touché weedy1. Nice article post. Peer reviewed science is still our best bet but filtering junk science from real science is impossible (if data is hidden or changed). The science today is still better than waiting for religion to answer these important questions. (Ie. who cares about climate change if the rapture is around the corner!).

And there is no doubt that climate change is taking place. The rub seems to be on the reason(s) why.

And there is no doubt that climate change is taking place. The rub seems to be on the reason(s) why.

Focusing on the why leads to speculation and not truely understanding the global millenial climate patterns. Humans live in tens of years or at most 100 years...which is insignificant to the global historical climate patterns.

The geological record proves climate change has taken place with both temperatures rising and falling and CO2 levels rising and falling before people came to be.

While the Earth records time in tens to hundreds to thousands to millions of years us humans in our egotistical way feel that the world revolves around us and that includes climate.

We don't know enough to say are we in an upward warming trend in an upward warming cycle post glacial or in an upward warming trend in an downward warming cycle post glacial.

The one true fact is that the Earth has been on an upward warming cycle since the last ice age.

The other true fact is that the Earth cooling would be a catastrophe. The Earth warming is an annoyance to some and a savoir for many more.

Another is that models are only as good as the info in. As massive amounts of data goes into understanding climate...does one not wonder why we can't model climate 1, 2, 7 days out with accuracy...yet we believe someone with a model that says in 50 years we are dead?

The final fact is true pollution is bad...but CO2 is natural and required for humans to survive. Without it in the air we would be dead.

IMHO

The reason is well known but the first step in healing is agknowledging there is a problem. A significant number of members here deny there is even a problem.
