Welcome to the West!
There are brown trout in the Red Deer river. Some BIG ones. Have fun, read the fishing regs and good luck!
Please respect and treat Alberta's waters and lands like you would back home.
cheers,
S.

your in luck, head south on the 2 to hwy 54. turn west, drive till you see sign for dickson dam, follow arrow. work your way down stream from there. go on google earth to find other access. have had good luck with small mepps cyclops. hope that helps.

I think he means the browns in alberta are lomond or german browns originally. at least I think that's what he is trying to say.

got permission to fish a unpressured section of the red deer. lots of scrappy browns to 16". no hogs which was a bit of a shock, given the quality of much of the river. landed maybe a dozen since thursday. all healthy, fat, and stunning to behold in the early fall colors of the water in the river valley. fish were fooled by a selection spoons and a bunny bucktail thing I tie. retrieved fair quick it received savage strikes.
hope the rest of the weekend goes as well.
