SRD had again thrown brood stock into lakes here and there. They are running from 5>15 lbs. Remember your pom-pom and gravel chum.
A friend is up to 38 of the ugly suckers.
He says he's entering BIGGEST RAINBOW THIS YEAR. Obviously he's going to the the envy of many. Figures the $300 is a good enough reason.

I'm not sure what the bullshead fish look like but did catch a couple of brood stock at Phyllis lake a few years back. They looked like they had been dragged behind a truck on a gravel road for a mile or two.

Not very pretty and not much for fighting . Kind of like a Frankenfish.

Pickeral rig is good to go and the cooler has ice. Just need to so scrape up a few handfuls of gravel off the parking lot behind the value village, I find they are a great chum size there, then off for a day of sport fishing! Maybe I can beat your friends largest trout by stretching it and/or stuffing it with the left over gravel chum, add a few ounces. That $300 and the title is mine! Wish me luck Don!

Thank you. Makes total sense now. I tend to agree. That's like shooting FARMED deer. Just not into it either.

To those that don't know, this is just another example of snobby "Better than thou" flyfishing attitude. Still fishing with those ancient wood sticks Don? You should throw that crap away, head on to CanadianTire and grab a real rod. Real craftsmen make those ones, not some boyscout glued stick bundle. Happy turkey day everyone.

i think it's great that srd stocks the broods when they get to big to handle. it can sure add excitement for any angler fishing a stocked lake to hook up with one of those beauties.

A question was asked.

Where does a guy get his trophy?

Well, the good old Govt lists the lakes where trophies are planted on the Wild Alberta Web site, Look for lakes on the right side of the columns showing few and large lengths. That's the trophy lakes.

Web site is here: http://www.mywildalberta.com/Fishing/StockingReports.aspx
