I enjoy catching them, and they are good eating too! I'd have to disagree with BBJ though. They are an easy fight, like dead weight if you keep there head pointed towards the hole. Every Burb I caught this winter I knew was a burb the second it was hooked and none took more than 15 seconds to get to the hole. No Jokes Pike fight and you can't winch'em in the way I have the burbs. 7lb 7oz pike I had to "Play" on the same rig that i winched in a 9lb 10 oz burb.

BBJ you need to hook into a bull trout!

On the contrary I have had some pretty scrappy burbot on.

thems there pictures I posted Caught them ,and the one was about 2 minutes to reel in but the other one which was about a 8lb didnt have picture , took about 15 minutes to fight on the 5 lb fire line was a good fight , also like fishing for them in open water about a week or 2 weeks before freeze up and they put a good scrap up then and there shallow you gotta try it some time .

I agree with fisherpotch. There are easy to catch exept that 9 pounder i caught. It took me five minutes because i was fishing for whitefish so i had a wire worm, 4 pound test and one of those swedish hand rods. I had to reel the line in with my hands. That was a good fight.

i was fishing them on 6 lb mono. Seems they fight good when you first hook into them, then they seem to give up, you get them up to the hole and they go right back down

They bend so easily so when they are in the hole and they are looking at you. They can bend their tail up through the hole and swim right back down again. It is suprising how strong their tails are. Also i find them pretty dumb. One time one tried to eat my underwater camera for 3 and a half minutes. I thought he was going to eat it.

Not to mention there death roll , you can lip em like a bass but yet you would think with that death roll , they were there for business.

I have fished for Burb on and off for 2 years. Smelt, Shad, Sucker Minnows, Wire worms, Jigs....the list goes on. I have read all the posts for Burbot; where to go, what depth, what bottom, what time, what time of year, bathymetry maps, tried Gull, Sylvan, Glenmore, and big pools in the bow. Still have yet to catch one. I have a feeling this fish will be the best fish I have ever caught and eaten (probably because price per pound I have paid in equipment and baits etc for burb), or I will just lose my sh*t. Funny enough... It's why I love it, It's all about the chase!!!!:D :D

I never knew the glenmore res had burbots!? Thought it was just pike and large trout.

You've got the right techniques. I made out quite well this year with glowing jigs and jumbo minnows, on set lines rigged with bells, I'd do a round and jiggle both my lines every few minutes and then left it to be still till I heard a bell jingle. 1-6 inches off bottom. They are aggresive post spawn, spawn, and pre-spawn and can provide with much excitment all day. I'm sure you'll catch one soon, I personaly have had my best luck for them on the ice though. They can be tough to get out the hole as the other fellows on this post have pointed out, they can fold in half so that there tail and head are both pointed upwards, I've gotten good at lipping them, but If its a large fish with lots of go left I wouldn't recommend it. Tight Lines.

The Glen does hold burbs, I have seen them come out of that water on more than a few occasions. Nice sized ones too, I have also seen one pulled out from below the dam on the elbow. Last year I pulled a 5lb 5oz pike from just below the dam, I have also seen browns, the odd bow, rockies, and suckers pulled from that hole.
