Well normally I'm still hunting at this time but I was lucky enough to get my elk early in the season. I've never fished early ice (before December). Now that I'm
Ready for fishing, I was wondering, can I use my gas auger on thin(er) ice? Or are the vibrations too much?

If your that worried about it you can buy hand augers cheap on the forum or kijiji. Another alternative would be to buy an adapter so you can run your auger leg off a cordless drill.

Gas auger this time of year is totally unneccesary. Went out yesterday with a hand auger and drilled holes in 5 seconds. Axe works great too

Saw a guy punching holes in well under a minute with a decent spud yesterday.

A gasser would be severe overkill with the ice we currently have.
