Forget the ice gear, Im not done with the boat yet!!! :argue2:
Foggy start to the day, but wasnt that cold, and supposed to warm up, so I loaded the boat and headed to the river. Zero ice, and not much wind so it was a go. Got down the river to one of my little spots, and started the day with a little walleye. Pretty slow so I went further down and set up for sturgeon, but they were having none of my bait today. Tried 3 or 4 different holes, then decided since my minnows were dissapearing quite regularly I may as well just tease walter. still slow for a while, but the wind kicked up and they got hungry. Got an absolute beast, my new personal best. Coolest thing happened, when I got it to the surface there were 2 more the same size class trying to stel the bait away from it, and one actually ate my weight 2 or 3 times while I watched. Figured someone was trying to tell me something, so I added another hook to my rig and tried again. Bad idea, ended up with 2 pigs on and they went in opposite directions so both tore the hook out. Kept a fat 25 incher for the table, the rest went back for the next time. Headed back in the morning for another round. only one other boat on the river, a little zodiac with a couple guys who set up for shore fishing. Saw a very nice buck , headed up the cliffs to bed down for the day, more like roosting I figure, way up on the cliffs, he climbed like a mountain goat! looked like a 9 pointer, maybe 10. Got a flyby by a bald eagle in the fog too. BTW I looked up my beast since my scale is dead. I dont believe the weight it gave so I downgraded it. since according to the calculator my fish was over 13 pounds, I will be happy calling it 12. :sHa_shakeshout: another PB this year, weightwise anyways
heading down the highway. you know your day is going to be a gooder when the radio kicks into AC?DC when you pull out of the driveway!

Awesome photos Wayne - that was quite a beast of a walter !! We were out looking for mulies today, and also saw several eagles (two bald & one golden). One of the bald eagles was in a tree across from my friends yard so we got a great look at it with binos. Foggy up by Sandy Point, but also quite a breeze blowing.
