Our weekend trip was awesome. We filled all our draw tags. Our group got 2 calf moose 1 bull moose and a cow elk. Everything was going great till we loaded up and started for home and all of a sudden a herd of elk ran out in front of us. We managed to dodge the first few BUT two of them weren't so luckyhttp://i1243.photobucket.com/albums/gg557/redneck_renagade/19251F85-6713-4CCA-8323-3C4575CE45F2-3560-000003782DB5820F.jpg

At least the truck is driveable. We hit the elk west of spirit river and we have to go to spruce grove.

First off congrats on the hunt sounds like it went good. But,, the ride home obviously sucked and thats to bad. But hey don't let it ruin the hunt for yah,, chin up thats what insurance is for.

I dont see no green fluid on the ground.
Should be drivable ;)
All kidding aside, it sounds like nobody was injured except for the Elk and the damage to the truck...

That is what insurance is for!! I had a deer run into the side of my truck last year on my Sask hunt!

Dead cow on H 22, near our place.:D Think the way that works is somebody shoots up the herd and they run blindly, wherever. Bummer if you're in their way.

That sucks. Hopefully insurance isn't going to be a hassle. On a side note for a 2010 or newer dodge is that rust on the top of the front bumper by the plastic or road grime?

You call for permission to keep the elk lol

Not the best end for a trip for sure. But you are still alive and that's good.

This time of year, or maybe it's just this fall, seems especially bad for animal collisions. We are finding two or more roadkill every day in a forty mile stretch from Dixonville to Hawk Hills. And it's been that way for weeks.

Congrats on bagging animals, would like to say " oh don't worry, it'll buff out" but by the looks of the pic those words can't leave my lips

Looking at the silver lining .....Fortunately,you were in a tall truck and you are on the forum telling your unique hunting story. Glad you are ok. That truck had a few km's on it already anyways.

Yeah...dang road hunters anyway.:)

Hope everyone is OK and that sure sucks but... it happens. When a herd of elk decide to move in a hurry they pick a direction and go... and theres not much you can do but hope it doesn't happen right in your headlights.

Well at least the saying ram tough stood up. We were able to do highway speeds all the way home with minor issues. The washer fluid container was smashed so we had to stop and throw snow on the windshield. But we made her home.
