So, I finally got out hunting on the 5th of Nov with my dad. I moved him out here last year, from Ont. We went hunting last year, and he couldn't believe the amount of game he was seeing. We got a couple of deer and a moose, so it was all good. Flash forward to this year. The 5th was a look around during the afternoon. We got up early on the 6th, and headed to our spot. Almost got a big mulie buck with the bumper, just missed him. Anyway, we turned off onto the road allowance just after shooting light, and I see a whitetail buck. He was on land that we couldn't shoot on, but, he looked like he wanted to cross to our side. I got my dad out of the truck, got his rifle loaded, moved him to a safe shooting position, and we waited to see what the deer would do. As it so happened, he jumped the fence onto the road allowance, and then jumped the fence onto our side. BANG, flop, DRT. His first whitetailed buck in about 15 years. He was a pretty happy guy. So, we tagged him, gutted him, and moved on. I said we should go for a look in the rest of the pasture, and that I wanted to take a walk to see where the majority of the moose sign was. I parked the truck where he could watch (he doesn't walk very well) and I went for a walk. About 15 minutes later, I ran into a whole flock of moose. They busted me, and I ran to the edge of the bush just in time to catch a big cow and calf crossing in front of me. I swung ahead of her and squeezed as I passed her chest, BANG - SMACK, and she was in the trees. I walked over and there she was, down for the count. I made sure she wasn't getting up, and then called Dad on my cell. He drove down to me, and we got her gutted, and loaded in the truck. Thank God for the small winch I have mounted on channel iron in my truck. It skidded her right in and we were on our way home by 0930. This has been a great season already. It's been a long time since we hunted together, and it seems the cycle has come full circle now. I take him hunting now, and I will until he can't go.

P.S. I can't for the life of me figure out how to post the pictures. I'm not seeing the same stuff as what is in that sticky. And how do I resize them, they're huge.

Yep, that's them. Finally got it figured. Too old school, I guess. If I don't do it every day, I forget how. Have to post more pictures, I guess.

Gotta love huntin with the old man. And don't mind the blood that's what happens when they get shot...lol.

Unless your like my brother inlaw that I'm pretty sure scared his last buck to death with not a drop of blood anywhere:confused:

So how big was her calf .

The calf was a big one. Be pretty tender vittles for anyone with an antlerless tag.
