Well a buddy and I decided to go check out a lakefront the heck of it not expecting to be able to fish. We get out there and people were out on the ice so back home we went to get the auger and everything and ended up catching some nice fish.

Two questions...

1. How thick was the ice, must be pretty good I walked out 200yards from the boat launch to retrieve a downed duck yesterday but it started to crack the last 25yrds I went out.
2. Did you guys see/ hear geese ? If yes how many (approximate).

(Ok it was three questions)

That place is always one of the first places that freeze up.

Were there any lake whites caught or seen cruising around there?

Hahahaha its southern Alberta. We don't have trees down here.

That is typical scenery for the walleye and pike reservoirs around these parts.

Ice was just short of 4 inches.

You guys are ridiculous.

I am willing to bet the next time I show up there so many fisherman will be on the ice I won't have an option to fish..

Sigh...:angry3:

That lake is about as much of a secret as Badger lake.

If you want to go there and battle with everyone else for a spot giver.

I don't bother going there because I would rather stay away from the crowds and don't fish for pike all that often.

If you plan on fishing that lake maybe try heading somewhere else on the lake instead of the same spots that everyone else fishes. There is really only 3 small spots on the whole lake that I ever see people fishing and there is plenty of other places that can produce.

Its not a matter of it being a secret, we all know its not.

its a matter of ice thickness this early in the season... Where else are people going to go if they want to icefish right now?

Exactly.
