If anyone in the immediate Calgary area has any lake whitefish roe, fresh not frozen, and they are going to throw it away,

I would be very happy to come and relieve you of it.

Just shoot me a PM and I'll be right over!

What do you do with it? I've heard that it was good fried at the same time you cook the fish, but I've tried it, and it's not something I'll try again.

I cured my roe last year and basically made golden caviar. It was good but quite fiddly to prepare.

Going to fish for some whites tomorrow, if I have too much roe I'll let you know. I usually keep a bunch to make roe sacks for later.

Awesome.

I now have 2 jars full of loose eggs, and a couple kilo bricks of the good stuff!

Party time!
