Gave another lake a try today, wind was blowing so hard I could barely walk on the ice when I got there, but I drilled some holes anyways. ice was 5 inches, but the chinook was eating it fast. Caught my first fish on the ice this season, not very impressive but thats why I call it Dink Point

Looks like there are going to be a few pressure ridges at the point this winter again.

This is how we use chairs down here in the wind

beats chasing them 10 miles
The melting ice was making me less than comfortable so I moved to another area out of most of the wind.
spotted this guy on the way. by the time I got the camera dialed in on it it took off so I cut off its head :angry3:

did manage one in flight though

set up at the new spot, 5 inches of good ice and a couple slush ice on top of that.
first tip up flag of the year

had a bunch of bites, something was helping itself to my sucker minnows, and after about 6 or 7 lost minnows finally hooked this fish, beautiful colors in this lake as usual.

and while I was packing up this one took my jig, came off in the hole but it launched itself right out onto the ice so I got a picture anyways. :bad_boys_20:

Not a bad way to spend a Sunday, and get the ice season off on the right foot. Hopefully it doesnt get as warm as its supposed to, I have a 4 day weekend coming up and I want to fish!!!!!:sHa_shakeshout:

monsterous tail on that last one. I must say, you're one of the most hardcore fisherman I've encountered. Keep it up.

Nice work Wayne - I see you landed one of them rare giant tail walleyes in your last pic.

actually they both curled up when I took the pics, so the tail is closer to the lens. does look cool though :bad_boys_20: I find the river walleyes have bigger tails, since they have the current to fight too.

Nice feesh, Mr. Christie.:sHa_shakeshout:
Have you been transplanting the tails from those big river 'eyes unto those little guys?

Be careful out there, my friend...

lots of very big pike in that spot, and 10 pound plus walleye. I take lots of safety measures, anchor a rope to shore , thats a mustang floater coat and also have ice picks in my sleeves.

sounds like you should get a lesson on safe ice.

If you put a truck through on ice that was much thicker and better setup, then maybe everyone needs a lesson on safe ice. Just saying. :snapoutofit:

We are all free to make out own choices and voice our opinions(driving something worth $50k with the potential of it disapearing into the deep is crazy imo), if you don't agree with someones actions that's fine. Call him crazy, advise him on being safe (which he obviously is with the gear and precautions he listed) and go about your day. :scared0018:

Personally, having never met the man, Wayne doesn't seem to be a stupid man judging from what he's written. Crazy, at times, yes, but not stupid. At least he didn't walk by the weeds to relieve himself like some other member here.:sHa_sarcasticlol:
