Looks to be the new big thing. The concept of no line curl should help with small tackle.
Any one use this setup????????????, I am waiting for the Frabilll 241 combo, but haven't found one locally. Cabella's may get another x mas order!!

Maybe a new name but guys have been icefishing with fly reels and baitcasters for years.

I have been reading about it in this years ice fishing mags.

this link is for Frabill's site, but Clam corp, HT and probably a few more make similar ones. It is a fly reel , with the idea being that it gives no coil memory to the line. Just curious if anyone on here uses them. I am going to get one sometime before year end, I am looking at the Frabill 241 as the reel is a 2.4 to 1 ratio as opposed to 1 to 1 for most others.
Have a good night.

got my second biggest pike on an old 1:1 fly reel, thats an experience for sure! bit of gearing might make it easier. I prefer a baitcaster, a lot easier on the thumb when a big fish makes a hard run :scared0018:

For my "bigger" pike setup, I've got a fresh water baitcasting reel on a heavy action ice rod. Works great.

Another vote for using a baitcast reel for pike in the winter. Love hearing that bait clicker when a pike takes a run with your bait! :sHa_shakeshout:
