Hello fishermen and women!

I am looking to legally purchase around ten pounds of walleye for my grandfather. He loves this fish, and asked me if I could bring him some when I come to visit him during the holidays. If you have some you are willing to sell to me legally, or know of a store that carries it and can forward me to it I would be extremely grateful.

Thank you,

PookaDotted

lol most major grocery stores have walleye.......save on foods had it the other day.........not hard at all to find, just not the same as catching it yourself!! and unless someone on this forum has a commercial fishing license, they wont be selling you anything.......odd first post lol

I would suggest checking out some of the commercial fishing seasons near your area. Try contacting some of the guys and seeing if they'd be willing to sell. Most of them have contacts that date back for years and those same guys buy all the pickerel every year, but for the right money, I'm sure you'll convince one of them to sell to you.

There is an old guy that sets up in Lloydminster on the Sask side that sells fish by the truckload, whole frozen. Who knows how many times they freeze/thaw/freeze/thaw

Has anyone ever bought one of these off a truck? Are they worth buying?

for most people on this site, that is an incredible amount of work

But thats besides the point, if this thread is anything more then a joke, I would consider driving to sobeys or costco less work then researching and making phone calls to commercial fisherman and CONVINCING them to sell me 10lbs of walleye

Billingsgate seafood occasionally sells fresh walleye.

As with of of their product, it is fresh, and of the best quality. Price is twice what you would pay at supermarket - but - smell your walleye fillets when you, at the lake finish filleting them (no smell). Then sniff big box supermarket fish .................. quality is evident at Billingsgate ............ fish is clean and no smell.

With the price of gas, tackle, boat, etc.,it probably would be much cheaper to just buy it at Sobey's...you think they'd mind if I set up my ice fishing tent next to the fish section just so I can get the full effect though?

Fillets sell for around 9.50-12.00 a pound.

My uncle is a commercial fisherman on Lake Winnipeg and I get 20 lbs of cheeks every fall! They are absolutely the best thing out of the water to eat! Fry them up with some beer batter or bake them in the oven with some honey. Little nuggets of love! I think I will have some for supper tomorrow!

Drooling ... That would be bliss for sure. Dang, I don't even buy 20lbs of fillets per year let alone cheeks!

Lol this isn't a joke, trust me. I'm from B.C. and I've asked around to the few people I know and they are useless when it comes to information about this. I tried looking on the web for places without success and this is the only place that has given me an answer. I want high quality, good tasting fish. Not repeatedly thawed and frozen fish. I'll use the grocery stores as a last resort but first I'll try the seafood store mentioned.

Also, I'm a "she" not a "he" hahaha

We commercial fish here in Saskatchewan and we aren't allowed to keep walleye or northern pike. They're considered gamefish and have to be turned in to the conservation officers accordingly. Burbot are also considered a gamefish as well, but those we are allowed to keep...and man are they good :) Our license allows us to catch whitefish only...

Yup...best bet a Seafood Supplier or any grocery store usually has them...
