Has anyone heard about the status of Hector Lake? Did the rainbows manage to survive over the winter? Or was it yet another winterkill year.

This was posted on Flyfish Calgary a couple of weeks ago

The good people at Nakoda Lodge (Chief Hector Lake) didn't set the aerator up and as a result, their fish have suffered winter kill. There are reports of dead fish floating on the water. It seems the bo-zo in charge of their investment in stocking last year was asleep at the helm, ALL WINTER!!. The ice has melted but sorry, no fish. There is question of whether or not the lake will even be restocked this year. Seems their busy fixing the roof after last years wind storm. Bloody idiots in my book.

Another problem is that the aerator interferes with the mid-winter collection of meat through the ice. They don't really care about your summer fly rod entertainment...such a shame to have such a resource with no way to manage it.
