It was a great year. I got to see a lot of Alberta and spend some time with friends and family in some new areas. I got to hunt with several close friends, both my girls, my dad and even my wife returned to hunting this year for a morning! It seemed like most years it kept coming down to the wire on most tags. Maybe one year I can tag something on the first day. :)
It started in Zama and I got to take a free range bison off the list. It was an epic adventure and something I will always remember!

Then a few months later it was to southern AB for turkeys. We found the turkeys to be few and far between but was able to close the tag on this Jake on my last afternoon.

Then it was time for our annual walk in the mtns....I have decided to drop the hunt part! This year I had focused on being in shape and raced Death Race and Ironman so conditioning wasn't an issue. It made the walk in quite easy but ahhhh the sheep gods had other plans and dumped about a 12+" of snow on us.
We got a lot of snow and then the cold weather on our hunt made it interesting!

Then I was able to get some goose shoots in with the girls and another father/son team.

Then it was on to my quest for a big bull moose! Not growing up moose hunting I have only taken one other bull and it was the first bull I had seen. Over the years of working the base I have seen the big bulls and the hunts that produced them. So I decided this would be the year. I choose to hunt close to home and my FB friends lived my adventures and many moose tales. I took this bull after chasing him around for a few days and I am pretty happy with the hunt, who I shared this hunt with and with the bull. My next bull will be a meat one!

My dad took this nice buck working a scrape while we were looking for moose. He told me his deer don't need to be big anymore as he gets 30pts extra at his age...we laughed and he got me to drag it out! :)
