I got some penned up with some bait stewing. Wouldn't mind some help, but as usual, always worried about who to trust letting into the area I hunt. Everyone is entitled to, but last thing I care about is guys coming in ruining hunts I got setup. If we were to collaborate and work together I think we could make something work. PM me if you want. I have seen them first hand, and have many, many pics on my game cam. Lots of black wolves primarily too. Some with patches of white, some intermixed with silver. I would guide to bring the numbers down but time doesn't allow me so. Two big wolves out there, one guy thought the black alpha female one was a calf moose on the trail! Another big Silver I believe to be the Alpha male... I would love to get them but not out there enough and placing enough priority on it. If a guy were to sit at a bait pile for a week he'd easily get a couple or more. Might wait until March when they are hungrier and it's warmer out but worried they might have taken too many moose down by then.... Decisions....

Tracks that size and you're just packing a tiny 338? :scared0018:

All kidding aside, that is a huge wolf. Hope you guys get him.

cory....if G is willing to offer his partnership....jump at the chance. this guy knows his stuff.....but please please do not screw him over. if there was ever a genuine sportsmen in the field, sparx qualifies as a true gentlemen. i bumped into him in the sticksa while back, and he was absolutley accomodating to a complete stranger. consider his offer to team up a true privelege, and treat it as such.

Too kind Dale, thanks! These bad boys are hanging out at the end where I had my bait pile and you set up for an evenings hunt. My buddy missed a shot at both the alpha female and male in the same day there. Gonna throw some bones and scraps in a tub trailer, add lots of water, freeze solid then haul out in there and dump it upside down. Might even run a chain into the middle and lock up to a tree but shouldn't need to... My butcher works at Safeway and assured me he would give me as much scraps as I'd be willing to take too ;-)

I have no intention of screwing any one over and every intention of taking this gentleman up on his very much appreciated offer. When time allows awesom pics I can see my rug now lol thank for posting Sparx. I'm planning an over night or two excursion in the bush scouting and hunting. In the next month if work ever slows down. Thinking out TR see what I find. Again may thanks

With all the wolves in the area it I'm surprised at the numbers of big game I've been seeing on some of my outings . I'm born and raised here and never seen so many whitetails around. Pulled some cams from down south and set them up at the end of November and had good success so far. I might have to get out and do my part on the wolf control

Sorry if im de-railing this thread but this seems like the best place to ask some questions on a possible wolf track. I've never seen a wolf around here but, there was one shot a few miles away a few years ago. I went out for a yote hunt that morning and on my walk in i found this.

Thats a spent 22-250 round inside the track.

The area i was in does have a farm yard a half mile away with two Big ol labs. Also this is the area i found it in...

Thoughts on this? is it a domesticated dog or a wolf? or can you even tell of the track?

Not sure where youre at Hilltop, but it wouldnt surprise me if some mutts/wolves took up residence in what looks like agricultural land. I hunt 232 and there have been a group of blacks seen running around the past couple seasons, which is/was unheard of. With that being said, ive noticed this winter that my 4 month old chessie lays down tracks larger than my fist in the snow.....with the way the webbing in a retrievers paws really spreads those tracks out i could easily see someone come walking behind me thingking there was a wolf ahead. interesting though! thiose wolves do look like they are starting to take back their original ranges.....until a few cattle farmers start screaming zombie apocolypse and start blasting everything in sight

My first thought was that it was the two labs just out roaming or chasing birds, but i talked with the landowner and the dogs don't leave the yard. Dogs will be dogs and roam wherever they want though so still hard to say. I followed the track for awhile and it went onto a dirt road.. with soo much snow melting, the track dissappeared. Oh and the track direction was headed away from the farm house

Down in Mexico right now, life is rough :sHa_shakeshout: I still have a tub trailer full of scraps and bait to dispose of. At this point right now I'm thinking out not far from the Saprae area. Found alot of sign with some big dogs at the base of the ski hill so I may dump down there and hunt some evenings after work when the daylight stays out later. As of right now time is tight and a schedule shutdown for the last half of April and all of May means not much spring time hunting for me. The weather is getting nice out there, get out and shoot some wild dogs! Definitely be nice to drop a few alpha's from the pack right before calving season for the moose...
