Best bang for your buck is Wayne Anderson. I hunted with him last year and got a 14 5/8" Tom with my bow, he weighed in at 180 lbs. PM if you would like some more info.

I just got back from a hunt with Kelly. Last year I was impressed with the cat I had got. I'm planning on putting the whole story on here once I figure out these blasted picture thing. Any way this year we took my 80 yr old dad that was in a walker an on oxygen last year out to shoot a cat. Let's just say there is quite a few hounds men that can catch a cat but Kelly made this a perfect hunt that could not be better. Unbelieveable how hard his crew will work to make the hunt the best it can be. Full 10/10. You won't be disappointed

Make sure you get enough hunt for your dollar. Some outfits prefer to locate a hot track, call you up, you drive across Alberta like a maniac, sleep, head out in the morning on the hot track, hopefully get a shot that day, maybe the next. That's fine if all you want is quick trip, and a nice cat. But not alot of value for your hunting dollar.

There are some nice horseback hunts in Idaho, or BC.

Just be sure you know what you're getting into.

I should have asked this earlier, are you looking for a truck hunt or a horse back hunt?

I checked out a few different guys before my hunt this year. In the end I decided on Byron Stewart of Tracks and Trails. It was a great decision he runs a first class outfit with great equipment and even better dogs. His guides work hard and know there stuff. I had my 12 year old son with me and they were all great with him.

I would pick Kelly Morton hands down. I don't know how he consistently gets such big cats but who cares.........................

Colby Norman is the guy for cats, knows his dogs inside and out and is a realistic and reasonable price .!

It sure looks like there are lots of opportunities here. I also have been thinking of a cat hunt. I'm not a big "horse guy" so I guess truck/atv would be more my gig. What can a guy expect with one of these type of outfitters?

Cat hunting to me is one of the funnest hunts I could be on. Finding a track, determining if it's a tom or a female and getting it blocked in as tight as possible. All the while hoping some other houndsman doesn't dump on the track on ya.
I've done my hunts with Kelly Morton, it has always been a blast. Some are cheaper an some are more expensive but Kelly an his dogs will put out 100% for sure.

Byron Stewart of Tracks 'n' Trails Outfitting offers a no kill/no pay deal to Alberta residents and you will take a big lion. That being said I believe he is upward of $6500 now.

You will pay $3,500 - $7,000 (least expensive to most expensive but still having a good reputation)

IMO the only difference is marketing and reputation between some of the higher priced guys and the less expensive guys. There are also lots of no name guys running hounds but wouldn't put my $$ on them. Might work out but I prefer guys that have a proven track record. Most of the guys I would book with have been mentioned on here already. I would say count on at least $5K + or -

O yes and the hunt is the cheap part, full body cougar with habitat at the taxidermist is a little pricy.
